Eagerly awaiting any sign of a contract with Connor McDavid, one small piece of information has ignited Edmonton Oilers fans.
Top Oilers insider addresses rumours of announcement on Monday in Rogers Place
The rumours surrounding the potential announcement on Monday reached Oilers insider Bob Stauffer, who addressed the situation during the last preseason game broadcast.
Oilers fan Kevin McCurdy relayed Stauffer’s report, pouring cold water on the usage of the Hall of Fame room on Monday. According to Stauffer, the Oilers are just undertaking some cleaning at Rogers Place before the season begins.
Stauffer qualified that doesn’t mean a signing won’t occur in the next few days, but unfortunately for now, there’s no imminent contract with Connor McDavid.
The front office would’ve wanted him signed earlier, fans want to know McDavid is staying, and the team will hear it too – through chants from opposing fans and constant media questions.
The NHL is now just less than a week away from puck drop on the regular season on October 8th. Hopefully the Oilers do finalize a contract in the next few days, or this could become even more of a story for the entire NHL.
