Vancouver Canucks Star Elias Pettersson Explains Why He Will Not Let History Repeat Itself

The last two NHL seasons have not been impressive for star forward Elias Pettersson, but he can right the wrongs of the past two seasons if he returns to his old ways for the Vancouver Canucks.The Swedish forward is determined to return to his old form and lead his team back to glory.
“Pettersson showed up to training camp in great shape, telling reporters that he put on 13 pounds of muscle during the summer and as he gears up for that bounce back season, it appears that he’s already leaving a strong impression, including on his Head Coach, Adam Foote.”-Jaxon
Elias Pettersson primed for best season yet with Vancouver Canucks.
Patrick Johnston of the Province spoke on why this year will be different for Elias Pettersson, and the Canucks will need him to be in his prime as they do not have much depth up the middle.
“Last year was a disaster for Pettersson. He knows this. He doesn’t really want to talk about it. He would rather focus on how he believes he’s put in the work to be the player who was a near superstar all of two years ago. His 102-point season was 2022-23. That’s only two years ago.”-Johnston
Pettersson expressed that it is much harder to have continued success in the NHL, because your tendencies and play style gets picked up on by other teams, you have to constantly find new ways to break down a defence.

“And when he says «being myself,» he explains, he means how he plays the game: skating hard. Shooting. Playing the same as the guy who put up all those points, who attacked lanes to the net with a powerful stride, who could rip shots into the back of the net.”-Johnston
Pettersson has all the makings of an elite player in the NHL, extremely skilled, smart, and showing up to training camp with a bigger, stronger body. He is determined to be elite again and even surpass those successful years.
