The Blackhawks continue the opening stretch of their 2025-26 season on the road in a Thursday night tilt with the Boston Bruins. Learn here how to watch the game!
Following a 3-2 Opening Night loss to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, the Chicago Blackhawks are back in action on Thursday night as they continue their two-game road trip to begin the season. This time, the Boston Bruins are on the docket at TD Garden.
Despite the loss on Tuesday, the Blackhawks played a respectable game against a high-quality opponent. Now, the Hawks play a lesser opponent on paper with better health for their own roster compared to Tuesday.
The Blackhawks changed up their lines a bit on Wednesday. Colton Dach skated on the top line with Connor Bedard and Andre Burakovsky, while Ryan Donato joins Jason Dickinson and Ilya Mikheyev on the third line. Head Coach Jeff Blashill said that they haven’t handed Dach any opportunity, rather he has been metaphorically banging on the door for more.
In addition, Alex Vlasic returns from injury and anchors his spot alongside Sam Rinzel. Matthew Grzelcyk joins Connor Murphy on the third pairing.
Chicago Blackhawks at Boston Bruins Preview
With a healthy roster, the Blackhawks will look for their first win of the season on Thursday night. Worth noting, Arvid Soderblom is also expected to make his season debut in net. After inking a new deal in the offseason, Soderblom will look to prove himself as the 1A option behind Spencer Knight, who was brilliant in his return to Florida.
Colton Dach’s new opportunity on the top line will be fascinating to follow. Dach had a chance on Tuesday on a beautiful feed from Bedard, but whiffed on the shot attempt. Perhaps Dach’s physical presence will elevate the top line against a typically physical Bruins team.

As for the Bruins, this isn’t the Bruins of old. David Pastrnak is still an elite player, but with no Brad Marchand and the lack of another elite scorer, the Bruins are a bit one dimensional. Casey Mittlestadt was acquired at last season’s deadline, and Tanner Jeannot was the big free-agent addition for this club. After taking James Hagens seventh overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, the Bruins are looking to return to relevance in 2025-26.
The Bruins also opened the season on the road, taking on the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night. Following the 3-1 win, the Bruins will look to end their back-to-back on a high note at home.
