The Utah Mammoth look for their first win under their new moniker, as they travel to take on the Nashville Predators on Saturday night.

The Nashville Predators look to stay perfect to open the season as they host the Utah Mammoth on Saturday. This will be the last home game for the Predators before they go on the road for four games. The Mammoth are looking for their first win of the season tonight, after a 2-1 loss on the road to their regional rivals in the Colorado Avalanche. Nashville won by that same score on Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Nashville is trying to make it back to the playoffs after making it in 2024 and missing it last season. Utah has yet to go to the playoffs with its first year in existence, the Hockey Club went 38-31-13. That was a two-win improvement in their last season in Arizona the season prior. Utah is a slight -120 favorite to win on the road and pick up their first victory on Saturday.

The Predators are coming off a gutsy win in its home opener against Columbus. That mostly has to do with goalie Juuse Saros looking like he is in midseason form. The Predators were outshot 39-32 but Saros came to play stopping 38 shots to earn the first star of the game. Michael Bunting scored the first goal of the season for Nashville in the first period. Columbus later tied it in the third, and no one scored until Ryan O’Reilly broke free on the power play scoring just under three minutes into the third period for the second star. The Predators extended their home-winning streak over the Blue Jackets to 10 games in the process.

Utah was in the opposite predicament than Nashville in its game against Colorado. Utah outshot the Avalanche in their first game as the Mammoth, 33-27. But goalie Colorado Scott Wedgewood stopped 32 of those shots to earn the first star of the game. Dylan Guenther tied the game at one late in the second quarter on the power play for Utah. But the Avs got the last laugh early in the third when Nathan MacKinnon scored the go-ahead goal on the power play. Expect another close game here tonight against the Preds.
