Jason Dickinson is sidelined with an upper-body injury for the Chicago Blackhawks’ home opener against the Canadiens.

The Chicago Blackhawks will be without forward Jason Dickinson for Saturday’s Centennial season home opener against the Montreal Canadiens after he suffered an upper-body injury in Thursday night’s loss to the Boston Bruins.

According to head coach Jeff Blashill, Dickinson could be sidelined for up to a week as he recovers. Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio was the first to report the news.

Dickinson, who has registered one shot and one hit through the Blackhawks’ first two games, was forced to leave Thursday’s contest after sustaining the injury.

Dickinson is a key part of Chicago’s forward group, often relied upon for his versatility, defensive acumen, and penalty-killing prowess. Losing him represents an early obstacle for a Blackhawks team aiming to make a statement during their highly anticipated Centennial season celebrations.

Blashill indicated the team will monitor Dickinson’s progress closely, but did not provide a concrete timetable for his return beyond the estimated week.

The Blackhawks and their fans hope for a speedy recovery for Dickinson as they look to build momentum early in the 2025-26 campaign.
