It was déjà vu, in a way, for the ending between the Avalanche and Stars. The Red Wings bounced back, the Penguins fell flat, and Florida won’t stop losing.

Colorado Hockey Now

This is my seventh season on the Avalanche beat and quite honestly, I don’t remember covering a game in October that’s felt as big as Saturday’s did against the Dallas Stars.

The shootout is a crapshoot, and it’s a bummer that it ended the way it did. Martin Necas scoring late in OT on his golden opportunity could’ve blown the room off the building.

Still, looking back, that was an exciting game, and there were a lot of good things to take away from the Avs.

We’ve got an early puck drop today in Buffalo. And when I say earlier, I legit mean 10:30 am MT. It’s Canadian Thanksgiving and Columbus Day, which means early hockey on Monday.

The Avs made a roster move ahead of their two-game road trip.
