The St. Louis Blues (1-1-0) face the Vancouver Canucks (1-1-0) on Prime Monday Night Hockey. Puck drop from Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (Prime Video). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Blues vs. Canucks odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

2024-25 season series: Blues won 2-1

The Blues responded from a flat, 5-0 showing at home on Opening Night Thursday against the Minnesota Wild with a 4-2 win at the Calgary Flames Saturday. LW Jake Neighbours had 2 goals in his hometown. G Joel Hofer, who should make some noise this season as G Jordan Binnington’s 1B, made some unreal saves. He stopped 27 of 29 as the Blues killed 5 of 6 power plays against them.

The Canucks beat down Calgary 5-1 in each team’s opener Thursday, but lost 3-1 at the Edmonton Oilers Saturday. RW Brock Boeser, who has tallies in each game, netted the Canucks’ lone score Saturday. Boeser signed a 5-year extension with the club in the offseason and has already paid dividends on it. G Thatcher Demko was busy Saturday, stopping 34 of 36 shots the Oilers pelted him with.

Jordan Binnington (0-1-0, 5.00 GAA, .762 SV%) vs. Thatcher Demko (1-1-0, 1.54 GAA, .944 SV%)

Binnington sat out Saturday and will almost certainly be between the pipes for this one. He wasn’t great in the season opener, but he hasn’t as bad as the GAA looks. The Wild were active in front of the net, and there were some opportune bounces for them. Binner stopped 16 of 21 in the loss. He went 1-1-0 against Vancouver last year, stopping 30 of 36 combined.

Demko has played in both games to start the season, so it’s possible the Canucks run with backup G Kevin Lankinen here. Demko has had some injury issues the last couple of years, and they may opt to be cautious with him early in the season. Demko stopped 17 of 18 against Calgary and 34 of 36 against Edmonton. His only start against St. Louis last year, coming in his first start back from injury Dec. 10, was a 4-3 OT loss in which he stopped 21 of 25.

Blues at Canucks picks and predictionsPrediction

Blues 4, Canucks 3

I like the BLUES (+105) here. They’ve won 7 of the last 10 meetings against Vancouver, including 4 of the last 5 in this building. The Canucks are still adjusting to new coach Adam Foote’s style, and I think the Blues got a wakeup call in Game 1.

If you are really on board with the Canucks here, the play would be on the puck line. The Blues were notoriously bad with the empty net last year, tying for the most goals allowed at 13 with the empty cage.

I’m going to send this manual SGP, though, centered around LW Dylan Holloway and RW Jordan Kyrou. SGP DYLAN HOLLOWAY AND JORDAN KYROU 2+ SHOTS ON GOAL (+100). They’re on a line together and are unselfish players that feed off each other’s passing ability. It has also hit in both games thus far. This should be a winner.

BetMGM has a 10% NHL Odds Boost token that bumps this to +110.

Over, Over, Over. The Over is 6-3-1 in the last 10 meetings, and we had 7 goals in each of the last 4 meetings.

Take the OVER 5.5 (-115).
