The Chicago Blackhawks have three games under their belt for the 2025-26 season—and they’ve won none of them. If you need a refresher on Blackhawks news from the previous week, you’ve come to the right place.

Tasting Flight – Game Recaps

We’re only three games in, but so far, I’ve actually liked what I’ve seen from the Blackhawks’ young defensemen. Their power play entries need work, and Artyom Levshunov has some growing to do. But I can’t complain, mostly because I missed Saturday’s game and don’t have a way of catching the replay.

Closing Time — News Recap

Artyom Levshunov was a healthy scratch on Saturday for the home opener. Let’s remember that he’s 19 years old, a defenseman, and playing in the NHL. Sure, he’s got some cleaning up to do with decision-making (might be an understatement). However, head coach Jeff Blashill wasn’t too thrilled about his eight penalty minutes through two games. I don’t agree with Levshunov being scratched, but he isn’t doing himself any favors by taking stupid penalties.

Development has many approaches, and I’ll concede that an NHL head coach knows better about the subject than I do. Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times quoted Blashill with the following: ‘‘I don’t think development is you just play and magically get better. Certainly, playing is part [of it], but you have to have confidence. Learning how to do things a certain way is part of it, too. . . . We feel the best place for him to be is with us right now. He’s going to play plenty of games, and there are going to be some games he doesn’t play.’’

Jason Dickinson received an upper-body injury during Thursday’s game against the Boston Bruins. Dickinson is expected to be out for a week. This allowed Ryan Greene an opportunity to play up the lineup. In only 3:45 minutes of 5-on-5 play, Greene’s line had a 63.64 Corsi against the Canadiens.

Ethan Del Mastro was reassigned to the Rockford IceHogs on October 10 following Alex Vlasic’s return to the lineup. Del Mastro had an underwhelming preseason and had a 35.14 Corsi and a 28.72 expected goals share at 5-on-5 in his lone game this season.
