Kamloops has been led by rookie JP Hurlbert, who leads the league in scoring with nine goals and 20 points through eight games.
The Allen, Texas native was drafted 20th overall by the Blazers in 2023 and played with the United States National Team Development Program last year, recording 16 goals and 31 points in the USHL.
The 6-foot winger is committed to the University of Michigan for the 2026-27 campaign and is a candidate to be drafted in the early rounds of the 2026 NHL Draft.
Supporting Hurlbert is Chicago Blackhawks draft pick Nathan Behm, who has six goals and 11 points in seven games while Lafreniere has four goals and five points.
Logan Edmonstone has taken the lion’s share of the starts in net for Kamloops this season, including stopping 33 of 36 shots against the Pats.
The 5-foot-11 netminder has a 3-2-0 record this season with a 2.87 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.
Moose Jaw is looking to take steps to return to the mountain top after finishing last in the WHL last season with a 15-45-8 record — a year after winning the Ed Chynoweth Trophy for the first time in franchise history.
They are 4-3-1 heading into Wednesday’s game and are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings that saw rookie netminder Kyle Jones allow four goals on 45 shots.
Jones has made two starts for the Warriors this season and made five appearances. He has an 0-1-1 record with a 3.96 GAA and .882 save percentage.
Matthew Hutchinson has been the main target in net this season, last appearing in a 6-4 win over the Red Deer Rebels on Friday where he allowed four goals on 35 shots.
The 6-foot-3 netminder has a 4-2-0 record with a 4.23 GAA and .879 save percentage this season.
Moose Jaw has been led offensively this season by defenceman Colt Carter with four goals and nine points. The 16-year-old defenceman was acquired from the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the CHL trade deadline last year as part of a package in a blockbuster trade that saw Winnipeg Jets prospect Brayden Yager go the other way.
Carter played most of last season with the St. Albert Raiders U18 team of the Alberta Elite Hockey League, registering 15 goals and 44 points in 35 games.
The Warriors also feature high-scoring forward Lynden Lakovic, who was drafted 27th overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2025 draft. The 6-foot-4 winger had 27 goals and 58 points in 47 games last season and has five goals and seven points in six games so far this year.
Wednesday’s matchup will be the only game the two teams will play against each other this season. The Blazers won the lone matchup last season 6-4 in Kamloops.
