The Chicago Blackhawks (1-2-1) face the St. Louis Blues (2-1-0) Wednesday in a Central Division clash. Puck drop from Enterprise Center in St. Louis, is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (TNT / HBO Max). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Blackhawks vs. Blues odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
2024-25 season series: Blues swept 3-0
The Hawks are coming off their first win of the season, a 3-1 victory over the visiting Utah Mammoth Monday. RW Ilya Mikheyev picked up his first 2 goals of the season, and G Spencer Knight stopped 21 of 22 shots for Chicago, which cashed as +139 underdog as the Under (6) hit. C Connor Bedard didn’t record a shot on goal after scoring goals in 2 straight games.
The Blues have righted the ship after a lackluster season opener at home, sweeping a Western Canada road trip with a 4-2 win at Calgary Saturday and a 5-2 victory at Vancouver Monday. Rookie RW Jimmy Snuggerud had his first 2 goals of the season Monday as the Blues dominated throughout as +107 underdogs with the Over (5.5) cashing. The Blues have won 5 straight meetings against the Blackhawks, dating back to December 2023.

Arvid Soderblom (0-0-1, 3.92 GAA, .879 SV%) vs. Joel Hofer (1-0-0, 2.00 GAA, .931 SV%)
Soderblom makes his second start of the season. He stopped 29 of 33 shots in a 4-3 OT loss at the Boston Bruins Thursday. The Swedish native went 0-1-1 vs. the Blues last season, both on the road, stopping 56 of 65 shots. He lost 6-5 in a SO in February and was beat 4-1 in March. As a matter of fact, he’s 0-4-1 in 6 career games (5 starts) vs. the Blues with a 4.35 GAA and an .865 SV%.
In a bit of a curveball, the Blues are going with Hofer between the pipes. Hofer stood on his head at Calgary Saturday, stopping 27 of 29 shots in a 4-2 victory. Hofer helped kill off 5 of 6 Flames power plays and made some highlight-reel saves. Hof faced the Blackhawks once last season, stopping 26 of 27 in a 4-1 home win. The Canadian-bred netminder is 2-0 with a 1.50 GAA and a .956 SV% (44 saves vs. 47 shots) in 2 career games vs. Chicago.
Blackhawks at Blues picks and predictionsPrediction
Blues 5, Blackhawks 3
There is no play here at -235. The Blues have dominated this series, but they have been prone to losing these kind of games the last few years.
Instead, I’ll take a chance on Blue C JORDAN KYROU ANYTIME GOAL (+170). He didn’t have a shot on goal last game, and he was out there blocking shots. That selflessness made the bench erupt in cheers, and they will likely try to reward him.
I’ll take the BLUES -1.5 (+105). They won both of their last 2 games by multiple goals and have beaten Chicago by 2 or more goals in 4 of the last 5 meetings.
The OVER 6 (-102) is the way to go. The Over has hit in 4 of the last 5 Chicago-St. Louis games. The Blackhawks are just 1-3 O/U, and St. Louis is 2-1.
