The Detroit Red Wings look to keep their winning ways going on Wednesday night, as they get set to welcome the Florida Panthers to town.

The Red Wings won their last game at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday night, beating up the Toronto Maple Leafs, 6-3. The team certainly had an inauspicious start on home ice, as the team was thumped by the Montreal Canadiens last Thursday. It led to many Hockeytown supporters having an all-too-familiar feeling in their stomachs. However, the win for the rival Maple Leafs could be the type of win that can give a rebuilding team confidence this early in the season.

It certainly showed when the Wings traveled to Toronto for a matinee matchup against the Leafs on Monday. Despite being brutally outplayed for the entire game, Mason Appleton’s tally in the final minute of regulation, giving Detroit a 3-2 win.

Now, the team gets a tough task of facing the defending champions. The only saving grace is that Detroit is facing an injury-riddled Panthers team that is without captain Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk. Yet, Florida has enough firepower to make things difficult for the Wings, especially given the fact it won its first three games of the season.
