Good morning, folks. It looks like the Vegas Golden Knights might be off the schnide. Although they still haven’t scored the first goal in a game this season, they played their best hockey yet against the Calgary Flames. And, yes, they did it with Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner on different lines. They did, however, lose their starting goaltender to injury.

Elsewhere in the Daily Nuggets, the New York Rangers might be historically bad. In a stroke of bad injury luck, the Ottawa Senators lose their captain, Brady Tkachuk, for at least four weeks. The five acquitted members of Canada’s 2018 World Juniors team are eligible to sign today, and the Minnesota Wild stick to their $136 million guns.

Golden Knights News

Did someone say regulation victory? Lifted by a dominant performance by Jack Eichel, the Golden Knights launched a multigoal comeback and stormed to their first regulation win of the season. My observations here:

The Golden Knights did, however, lose goaltender Adin Hill en route to their 4-2 victory. He left the game after the first period, and Bruce Cassidy didn’t offer much clarity postgame.

For the first full game of the season, the Golden Knights iced a lineup that saw Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner separated. It worked last night. But in the long run, the Golden Knights kind of need them to figure it out together.

On Monday, Pavel Dorofeyev was named the NHL’s first star of the week.
