USA Hockey has corrected their initial mistake regarding Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko and forward Brock Boeser with four months until the Winter Olympics begin.
In four months, National Hockey League players will take to the ice at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, marking their return to the highest international stage since 2014, when Canada took home the gold medal.
“We’re just getting started. Introducing the first six members of the 2026 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team #WinterOlympics” US Hockey shared on social media in June.
Some new information was released on Thursday by NHL insider Frank Seravalli regarding a pair of Vancouver Canucks and their changes to represent their country on the biggest stage.
Brock Boeser & Thatcher Demko named to USA’s Preliminary Olympic Roster
Yesterday, all 12 nations participating at the 2026 Winter Olympics needed to submit a preliminary roster to the International Ice Hockey Federation featuring 42 skaters and five goaltenders.
After being snubbed from their Orientation Camp back in August, Frank Seravalli revealed that Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko and forward Brock Boeser are on the United States’ preliminary roster for the Winter Olympics.Joining Demko and Boeser is Lane Hutson of the Montreal Canadiens, who to the surprise of many, was also not invited to Orientition Camp in Plymouth, Michigan a few months ago, despite a historic rookie campaign that culminated in him winning the Calder Trophy.”#GoHabsGo Lane Hutson, #Canucks Thatcher Demko and Brock Boeser were listed among the skaters on @usahockey’s expanded preliminary 2026 Olympic roster submission.
Those three did not attend the 🇺🇸 Olympic orientation camp in August.” Seravalli said.
Demko, a native of San Diego, California, last suited up for the United States at the 2019 IIHF World Championship, where he appeared in two games and won both against France and Great Britain.
As for Brock Boeser, he has yet to play for the United States at the senior men’s level, with his last appearance wearing the Stars and Stripes being the 2016 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship where he had three points in seven games and took home the bronze medal.
The United States will open up the preliminary round on Thursday, February 12th against Latvia at 12:20 p.m. PT (9:10 p.m. local), before facing Denmark on February 14th and Germany on February 15th.
