The Montreal Canadiens once again gave their fans so many emotions yesterday, snatching another incredible victory thanks to Cole Caufield.
Let’s be honest… late-game comebacks won’t always work. The Canadiens will eventually get played a nasty trick.
But until then, these evenings remain so exciting for the fans, and the spectators at the Bell Centre definitely get their money’s worth!
Last night, it was once again Cole Caufield who got everyone on their feet, scoring the tying goal with 20 seconds left, before closing the show himself in overtime.
Moreover, this game-winning goal is historic, believe it or not.
It was already the 10th of his career in overtime, placing him tied with Howie Morenz and Max Pacioretty among the best in Canadiens history.
And last night, he didn’t just score…
Cole Caufield’s Celebration Says a Lot as He Skates Directly Toward Jakub Dobes
As soon as the puck hit the back of the net, Cole didn’t raise his arms to the crowd to draw attention.
He immediately pointed his glove toward Jakub Dobes and skated straight to his goalie to congratulate him.
“I got the chance, it’s because of Doby!”
This scene, captured by the Canadiens’ cameras, shows the strong bond forming between the two young players.
Caufield could have celebrated his goal solo, but he chose to give credit to his goalie.
A small, simple gesture, but one full of respect.
In my opinion, it says a lot about the culture Martin St-Louis is trying to instill in Montreal.
