The Chicago Blackhawks entered Friday night’s contest against the Vancouver Canucks with momentum from a two-game winning streak. However, the Blackhawks were unable to keep that streak going with a 3-2 loss in the fourth round of a shootout to the Canucks in front of 18,306 fans at the United Center.

The Blackhawks raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first period via goals from Ryan Donato and Tyler Bertuzzi. But Vancouver tied it up in the second period, and the third period saw no goals from either team.
Chicago received an unfortunate call in the third period, when a go-ahead goal by Bertuzzi with 5:12 remaining was taken away for goalie interference.

Followig the game, Bertuzzi voiced his frustration with the call.
“I won’t comment because I’ll probably get fined,” Bertuzzi said, via The Athletic. “I think it was not that great of a call. That’s what I think.”
Blashill told the media after the game he’d challenge the play again, and was waiting for an explanation from the NHL.
“I haven’t gotten an explanation yet as for why it wasn’t overturned, so maybe when I hear that, it’ll change my mind,” Blashill said. “When you look to the league, if you don’t push the goalie’s pad in, it’s generally a goal. I’m not sure, but I’ll wait to hear.
“I’ll have to call someone there and get an explanation. I never heard any reason why, so it’s hard for me to comment beyond that. But I was challenging it 100 percent and I’d challenge it again tomorrow.”
The loss dropped the Blackhawks to 2-2-2. Chicago will next host the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night.
