Toronto fans may have been ready for baseball drama today but Seattle’s hockey team made sure to start the trolling a little early.
The Seattle Kraken walked into Scotiabank Arena Saturday night wearing Seattle Mariners jerseys, a nod to their city’s baseball club as they prepare for a potential World Series–clinching Game 6 against the Toronto Blue Jays later today.
In a post to social media, the Kraken wrote, “walk in the 6ix. takeover the 6ix,” adding, “we truly mean this from the bottom of our hearts: SEATTLE OVER EVERYBODY.”
It was a witty show of solidarity as the city’s baseball and hockey teams both faced Toronto opponents this week.
To their credit, the Kraken then followed up their statement on the ice by beating the Maple Leafs 4–3.
The Mariners, meanwhile, head into tonight’s Game 6 leading the best-of-seven ALCS 3–2 after a five-run eighth inning lifted them to a 6–2 comeback win in Seattle on Friday.
First pitch is set for 8:03 p.m. ET at Rogers Centre.
