Camden-headquartered Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) has named Bob Myers as president, HBSE Sports.

Myers is one of the most respected executives in the industry. He spent 14 years as a sports agent before joining the Golden State Warriors’ front office in 2011. With the Warriors, he rose to the ranks of president and general manager. Myers helped construct rosters that won NBA titles in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. He also earned NBA Executive of the Year Awards in 2015 and 2017.

Last year, Myers served as an advisor to Josh Harris, HBSE co-founder and managing partner, along with David Blitzer. That work included the buildout of the organizational infrastructure of the NFL’s Washington Commanders, as well as the hirings of General Manager Adam Peters and Head Coach Dan Quinn.

Myers, who most recently served as an NBA analyst and color commentator for ESPN, will continue to support Harris as managing partner of the Commanders – while joining HBSE in a full-time role. The move aims to maximize opportunities and bolster processes across HBSE’s portfolio of sports properties, including the New Jersey Devils (NHL), Philadelphia 76ers (NBA), Crystal Palace FC (Premier League) and an investment in Joe Gibbs Racing (NASCAR).

HBSE says Myers will work closely with Harris and Blitzer to enhance the organization’s ability to deliver championship-caliber teams to the communities they serve.

‘An architect of championship teams’

In a statement, Harris and Blitzer said their goal has been to hire, grow and retain the best and brightest executives in the world.

“And we are stronger, more dynamic organization with the addition of Bob Myers,” said Harris and Blitzer. “His experience as an architect of championship teams will complement our existing leadership structure, while also allowing HBSE to maximize opportunities across our portfolio.”

Myers says he has been fortunate to know Harris and Blitzer for a long time.

“And I’ve always greatly admired them and respected how they’ve built such an impressive global sports portfolio,” said Myers. “This role was intriguing because it provides the opportunity to work with some of the industry’s most talented leaders and executives across the world’s biggest sports leagues.

“By leveraging HBSE’s global presence in sports, we can create competitive advantages for our athletes and teams that enhance our ability to win.”

Myers stressed that this is the type of challenge and opportunity he was looking for.

“And I’m grateful to Josh and David for the chance to be part of HBSE.”

Harris and Blitzer added, “We’re excited to have Bob continue his storied career here at HBSE.”
