Video started circulating on social media after the Sharks’ 3-0 loss to the Penguins on Saturday.
The game was Hispanic heritage night in San Jose, but it was interrupted by the pro-ICE message.
“SJ SHARKS FANS LOVE ICE!! GET ‘EM BOYZ!” the message said.
The crowd erupted in boos after the message was broadcast, and the team was forced to apologize after the game.

San Jose claims that the message was a fan submission that should not have been permitted.
“During the first intermission of tonight’s game, an offensively worded message which had been externally submitted was inadvertently displayed on the in-arena scoreboard,” the team said in a statement.
“Sharks Sports & Entertainment deeply regrets that this message, which does not meet our organization’s values, was not detected during our standard review process.
“The Sharks organization sincerely apologizes for this oversight, and we are actively working to determine the origin of the message.”
Fans were appalled by the message that was broadcast on the jumbotron and shared their thoughts on social media.
“No one vets these messages?” one fan said.
“That’s absolutely wild for that to be allowed to go thru and get on the jumbotron,” another fan said.
“On Hispanic heritage night? You couldn’t screen the messages? Shame on you as an organization,” a third fan said.
“On Los Tiburones night too, sheesh. Tough look,” a fourth fan said.
“Do better. Much better,” a fifth fan said.
