Emil Andrae is considered an intriguing prospect in Philadelphia, but after falling out of favour, the San Jose Sharks have been named as a potential landing spot.

Back in the 2020 NHL Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers used a second-round pick on blue liner Emil Andrae, and early on in his tenure with the organization, he was turning plenty of heads.

The 23-year old has appeared in 47 NHL games since then, but still, he struggles to make the team on a yearly basis, spending the majority of his time in the American Hockey League with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Now, during his appearance on the DFO Rundown, top NHL Insider David Pagnotta has revealed the perfect landing spot for the talented, but underutilized 23-year old.

There has already been reports that Andrae is available from the Flyers, and now, given their needs for a young blue liner, Pagnotta has named the San Jose Sharks as a team that would be a perfect fit for Andrae.

He’s off to a hot start in 2025/26 as well, with three assists in three games for the Phantoms down in the AHL, and if he’s not getting to play significant minutes after three full seasons down there, it may be the best move for both parties to simply move on.

For now though, they’re seemingly not actively shopping him, but if a young team in need of a defenseman shows interest, Andrae may potentially be the perfect buy-low option for a team as he looks to finally establish himself as an NHLer after showing so much potential over the past few seasons.
