The Carolina Hurricanes (5-0-0) continue on their long road trip with a game against the Las Vegas Golden Knights (4-0-2) to be played on Monday night with a start time of 10 P.M. Eastern.
The Golden Knights are another team that is predicted by some to win the Cup.
Jack Eichel leads them with 5 goals and 15 points total. This point total leads the entire NHL.
Next up is Mark Stone with 13 points and Mitch Marner with 8.
They are coming off an impressive, 6-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night.
While the Canes have a goal differential of +12, (GF 23 GA 11), Vegas is at +7, (GF 26 GA 19).
Carolina will need to stay out of the box. The Knights were 3-3 with the man advantage against Calgary and they are second in the league connecting at 33.5%.
The Canes have two powerplay goals so far this young season and are at 11.8%.
Speaking of Mark Stone, he left the game a bit early on Saturday night after an apparent wrist injury. His status for this game is unknown at this time.
Shayne Gostisbehere also left the game early in the contest for Carolina.
The Canes were scheduled to practice on Sunday, but there were no team reports of such and hence, no update on the defenseman who is currently tied for most offensive output for a blueliner in the NHL.
Seth Jarvis scored the game-winner for Carolina against the Kings, giving him four game-winners in his first five games which is an NHL record.
The Daily Faceoff has the Vegas lines as follows:
Barbashev – Eichel – Stone
Dorofeyev – Hertl – Marner
Adin Hill and Akira Schmid are in goal.
It goes without saying that the Hurricanes need to improve their powerplay. They also are missing top defenseman Jaccob Slavin and now Gostisbehere might be questionable. Once again, there has been no update on his status at this time.
We will have more about the game tomorrow afternoon.
