The Vancouver Canucks have issued a key injury update to Swedish forward Nils Hoglander on Monday morning, who isn’t expected to return until closer to Christmas.In terms of timeline, from what we know right now, Nils Hoglander is set to be out the longest of any injured player on the Vancouver Canucks after he underwent surgery earlier this month and the club deemed him out for the next eight-to-ten weeks, putting him on track to a mid-to-late December return, if all goes well in his recovery.

Vancouver Canucks give another update on injured forward Nils Hoglander

On Monday morning, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they are shifting Nils Hoglander from injured reserve (IR) to long-term injured reserve (LTIR) retroactive to Tuesday, October 7th.

“General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today the following roster moves:

– F Nils Höglander has been placed on LTIR (retroactive to Oct 7).” the Canucks said.

While Vancouver Canucks might be worried about this roster move, but there isn’t anything to panic about as shifting Nils Hoglander to LTIR opens up additional cap space for the club to work with by calling players up from Abbotsford amid injury issues to Filip Chytil and Jonathan Lekkerimaki.

Hoglander, 24, is hoping to bounce back this season after seeing a big drop last year in goal scoring, going from 24 during the 2023-24 campaign to just eight in 2024-25.

As he begins his new three-year, $9 million US contract, expectations are pretty high for Hoglander once he returns from injury as he’ll play a key depth scoring role, with the Canucks hoping he can help get them back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
