Mattias Janmark came into the league at a remarkably high level in 2015 with the Dallas Stars.

As a rookie and sophomore, he scored 15 and 19 goals respectively — 34 goals over his first two seasons. Since then, across the next eight seasons, he has totaled just 46 more goals, reaching the 10-goal mark only once — in his first year with the Oilers, three seasons ago.

However, last year in the playoffs, Janmark was noticeable for Edmonton, scoring three times and posting a +5 rating in 22 games. In fact, throughout his playoff career, he’s been a reliable bottom-six contributor — appearing in 113 playoff games with 15 goals, 22 assists, and an impressive +9 rating.

He’s been sidelined with injury this season in Edmonton, but with his return approaching, there is wide speculation that he could be moved.

Enter the upstart and surprising Detroit Red Wings. They’ve looked very strong early, but remain thin down the middle behind Dylan Larkin — and they’ve always had a soft spot for hard-nosed Swedish players.

Tonight, an Edmonton source informed me there have been talks — very recent talks, in fact.
