On Thursday, Rempe squared up with San Jose Sharks star Ryan Reaves.

After circling each other for a moment, Rempe and Raves started throwing haymakers at each other.

Rempe appeared to take the bulk of the hits, wearing a few massive shots square on his jaw.

Immediately after the fight, Rempe headed to the locker room and did not return to the game.

“He’s being evaluated right now for an upper-body injury,” Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan said.

There is no word on how significant Rempe’s injury is or if he will miss any time.

The Rangers will hope he returns quickly as Rempe has become a more important player this season.

Rempe has taken major strides from last season and is logging consistent ice time this year.

He has scored one goal in nine games this year.

Rempe now plays the net front of the Rangers’ second power-play unit.

He has quickly become a fan-favorite, and fans share how much they enjoy his fights on social media.

“Good bout,” one fan said.

“Rempe is a perfect Ranger,” another fan said.

“Rempe is developing, in a few years nobody will want to fight him,” a third fan said.

“You know it’s good when the coaches are applauding,” a fourth fan said.

“Matt Rempe is an absolute beast of an enforcer!” a fifth fan said.
