Michigan State hockey is gearing up for year four under Adam Nightingale, a season that the team looks to accomplish more of their goals on a national landscape. After a disappointing first round upset loss to Cornell this past season, MSU is reloading for what they hope to be another run next season.

The Spartans will have to reload without defense commit Tyson Jugnauth, who has forgone his NCAA eligibility, electing to sign a professional contract with the Seattle Kraken. He was a fourth round pick, No. 100 overall, by the Kraken in 2022.

Jugnauth was expected to join Michigan State’s roster this upcoming season, after rounding out his juniors career with the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL. He had previously spent two seasons at the University of Wisconsin.

This now puts the Spartans in a position that they will need to go out and get an additional defenseman to add to the roster for the 2025-26 season.
