Game three of the 2025 World Series went a whopping 18 innings on Monday, and San Jose Sharks forward Barclay Goodrow stayed up for all of it.
Goodrow has been wearing a Blue Jays hat nearly every day after Sharks practices or morning skates. The Toronto native tells SHD that he’s not the biggest baseball person, but he’s been an avid fan during the Toronto Blue Jays’ postseason run. Goodrow says former Sharks captain Logan Couture is a die-hard fan of the Blue Jays.
In a game that tied the longest World Series game ever, the Los Angeles Dodgers won 6-5 over the Blue Jays.
“I stayed up. Yeah, it was a crazy game. Probably the most insane baseball game ever seen,” Goodrow said. “The highs, the lows, sitting on pins and needles for nine innings of extra innings. It was a great game.”

In a game where unsung heroes emerged, the Sharks forward could somewhat relate to what the players endured. Dodgers pitcher Will Klein threw four innings of shutout baseball. Klein was the last player on the roster. Tuesday’s outing was the postseason appearance in his young baseball career. Klein has only appeared in 22 games in his MLB career.
“He would have worked his whole life to get to that moment. He probably knew in his mind that the game had to go long for him to get into the game. But if that happened, he’d be ready,” Goodrow said. “Playoffs in every sport is about finding heroes within the game that wouldn’t normally be picked as the heroes. In that game, there were a ton of guys that showed up.”
Goodrow only got two shifts in overtime during game seven of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series against the Vegas Golden Knights. Remaining locked in with high adrenaline are non-negotiables, according to the Sharks forward.
“You have to just lock in. You don’t really have any knowledge of what’s going on around you. You’re just locked in,” Goodrow said.

“Just dominating performance by those pitchers. [Klein] on the Dodgers more than doubled his highest pitch output of his career. You can tell he was locked in. It’s the World Series, they’re gonna push their bodies to the limits and do anything to help their team win.”
Goodrow remains hopeful that his Blue Jays can tie the series up 2-2 with game four on Tuesday.
“It’s cool to see the city get behind the team. Especially when the expectations for this year weren’t that high,” Goodrow said. “Just to see a group of guys, a lot of them had been counted out before. To see them find their A game, it’s really been a team effort up to this point.”
Ty Dellandrea says he fell asleep during the 15th inning. The San Jose Sharks won’t have an easy time watching Wednesday’s Game 4 as they will face the Los Angeles Kings at 8 p.m. PT.

“It’s tough [to watch] tonight, getting ready for our game,” Goodrow explained. “I’ll take a peek at the TV here and there.”
