The Chicago Blackhawks are off to a hot start this season and after Tuesday’s 7-3 win over the Ottawa Senators, they are now 5-3-2 and are one of the early exciting stories. Blackhawks hockey is fun again and at the center of it is Connor Bedard.

The former No. 1 overall pick is playing well and finally has help in the form of some other young talent. But on Tuesday, Bedard had a career night and recorded his first hat trick.

While Connor Bedard is off to a hot start, his best career game came on Tuesday night. He finished with three goals and an assist in the win. He scored his first goal on a power play in the first period to give the Blackhawks a 3-0 lead. His second came early in the second period to extend that lead to 4-0.

But the hat trick came at the perfect time.

After the Senators scored three unanswered to cut the lead to 4-3, Bedard found the net again to give the Blackhawks some breathing room. And the hats came down from the United Center stands:

Bedard scored all three goals against Linus Ullmark, the same goalie he scored his first-career goal against in his rookie season.

It’s Bedard’s third game with at least four points this season as the 20-year-old is starting to showcase that elite talent. Now, the Blackhawks goal is to keep this momentum going as they embark on a six-game road trip beginning on Thursday at Winnipeg.
