Kevin Hayes has been skating and has been cleared for contact, suggesting he could be returning to the lineup shortly. The Penguins are 3-0-2 in their last five games, with the only two losses coming in the shootout.

The Wild have lost four in a row, including the last three at home, to fall to 3-5-3 on the season. Minnesota has dropped two straight overtime decisions, losing to San Jose 6-5 and then Winnipeg 4-3 on Tuesday night. Evgeni Malkin is having a renaissance at 39 years old. The superstar pivot is tied for second in the NHL with 13 assists and tied for fourth in the league with 16 points. Malkin is on pace for 119 points, which would be the best mark of his 20-year career.
