The past few weeks have certainly been very difficult for Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine.

Unfortunately for Laine, he may also miss out on the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics…

Now, another insider is suggesting that Kent Hughes has made his decision regarding Patrik Laine…

Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens Are Expected to Deliver Bad News to Patrik Laine, According to Antoine Roussel

“It’s clear that the Canadiens will not renew Patrik Laine’s contract. It’s an open secret. The Canadiens will want a player who fits within the organization, with the team’s identity – fast, energetic players… It’s sad to say, but [his injury] benefits the team because it allows them to make effective line combinations.”

– Antoine Roussel

It’s worth noting that Laine’s current deal expires at the end of this season, and unless he signs an extension with Kent Hughes, the Finnish forward will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

This will definitely be a situation to monitor.
