A National Hockey League insider believes that the Vancouver Canucks’ pursuit of Boston Bruins centerman Pavel Zacha might be harder than most expected. One name that has been brought up quite often in Vancouver’s search for a second line centerman is Pavel Zacha of the Boston Bruins, with Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman confirming the Canucks’ interest in the Czech forward recently.”Pavel Zacha and Vancouver. My buddy Rick Dhaliwal reported that the Canucks had contacted the Bruins this week about Zacha. That’s true and I think that’s been going on for quite some time. I think it’s all the way going back to the summer. The Canucks and Bruins have been on and off about this. You know, Zacha’s not in the last year of his deal, he has another year. Teams are looking for centers, Boston doesn’t have to do here it doesn’t want to do. But this has kind of been a dance that the Canucks and some other teams seeing if they can pry Zacha out of there.” Friedman said.

He added, “One thing about Vancouver though in this case, I do not believe they are on Zacha’s no-trade list.”

The Boston Bruins are in a really good position when it comes to Pavel Zacha because even though they don’t have to move on from him this season, partly due to him being under contract for 2026-27, GM Don Sweeney could potentially wait it out until the trade deadline in March to maximize interest and value of his player.

Vancouver Canucks’ pursuit of Pavel Zacha may be harder than expected

“According to this source, if things do continue to go south for the Boston Bruins, one player on the Vancouver Canucks roster that the Bruins could ask about, if they haven’t already, is 23-year-old, 6-foot-3, 229-pound defenseman Victor Mancini.” Murphy said.

However, while landing Pavel Zacha would be a home run for Patrik Allvin and the management group, helping them get closer to being a playoff team, TSN insider Pierre LeBrun doesn’t believe it’ll be easy to pry him out of Beantown.

While making an appearance on the Sick Podcast with Tony Marinaro, LeBrun mentioned that as things stand right now, the Boston Bruins aren’t “incentivized” to bring Pavel Zacha up in trade talks, with teams needing to make their best pitch in order to have a chance for the Brno, Czechia native.

“I’m not saying it’s impossible for him to get dealt, what I’m saying is the Bruins do not sound incentivized to actually bring him up to other teams.” LeBrun said.

The Vancouver Canucks are going to have to weigh whether or not they’re willing to be patient when it comes to trying to land Pavel Zacha or shift their attention elsewhere and in all honesty, it seems like the latter might be a better approach for Patrik Allvin.
