The Nashville Predators announced two injury updates on Nov. 2 and it wasn’t good news.
Forward Cole Smith, who left in the first period of the Predators’ 4-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Nov. 1, will be out 3-to-6 weeks with an upper body injury. The injury occurred when he was checked hard by Ryan Lomberg near the Predators‘ bench. He left immediately for the locker room and did not return.

Additionally, Roman Josi has been placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. Josi was injured in the Predators’ 2-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 23 and has missed the team’s last five games. The Predators announced that the injury is not related to his POTS diagnosis.
Players on injured reserve cannot return for at least seven days.
Smith’s presence will be important to replace. A prominent penalty killer, Smith has scored three goals in 13 games and is a key contributor on the team’s fourth line with Michael McCarron.
Josi’s absence was filled by Nicolas Hague, who returned from injured reserve on Oct. 25 after when Josi was injured. He’s recorded one assist in five games while skating 19:59 minutes per game since entering the lineup.

Adam Wilsby is also out day-to-day with a lower body injury, but could be close to returning. Nick Blankenburg has claimed Wilsby’s spot in the lineup, recording one assist in three games, skating 17:26 minutes per night.
