Vegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel was named the NHL’s First Star of the Month for the month of October.

Eichel scored a league-high 19 points, including eight goals and 11 assists, in 11 contests.

His hot start has played a key role in helping Vegas jump out to a 6-2-3 start.

Eichel tallied points in eight out of 11 games, including the first seven of the campaign.

He was the only player in the NHL to record multiple four-point games in October, as he notched four assists Oct. 18 against Calgary as well as a goal and three assists in the season opener against Los Angeles. In total, Eichel recorded six multi-point efforts, one shy of Mitch Marner’s seven.

Eichel ranked first in the NHL in power-play assists (nine) and power-play points (nine) in October. However, his production has taken a hit since the injury to Mark Stone, which has left the Vegas power play reeling.

The former second overall pick from the 2015 NHL Entry Draft is coming off a career season in which he recorded 28 goals and 94 points in 77 games. He is currently on pace for 141 points.

Eichel has 347 goals and 627 points in 627 career games with the Sabres and Golden Knights. Since coming to Vegas in the November 2021 trade, Eichel has potted 108 goals and 272 points in 252 games.

As of Monday night, Eichel is now tied for second in league scoring with Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid and Evgeni Malkin, all of whom trail Mark Scheifele, who has 20.

Eichel will look to extend his strong start as the Golden Knights host the Red Wings Tuesday night at T-Mobile Arena.
