Toronto Maple Leafs

Forward Scott Laughton skated with the rest of the regulars during Maple Leafs practice on Tuesday while rookie Easton Cowan skated with the scratches.

Laughton, 31. has yet to make an appearance this season while dealing with a lower-body injury sustained during the pre-season.

The 6-foot-1 centre was acquired at last year’s trade deadline from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for forward Nikita Grebenkin and a draft pick.

Laughton had 13 goals and 31 points in 80 games last season split between the Flyers and Maple Leafs.

Cowan picked up his first career goal against the Flyers on Saturday and skated 10:42 during the team’s 4-3 come from behind win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday.

Sammy Blais and Calle Jarnkrok were also skating in grey scratch sweaters on Tuesday.

Additionally, goaltender Anthony Stolarz and defenceman Brandon Carlo were missing from Maple Leafs’ practice on Tuesday.

Stolarz stopped 34 of 37 shots during the Maple Leafs’ win over the Penguins on Monday and has a 5-4-1 record with a 3.12 goals-against average and an .896 save percentage this seaosn.

Carlo skated 21:10 during Monday’s game against the Penguins, recording two shots with a minus-1 rating.

He has two assists in 13 games this season while averaging 20:09 of ice time.

Calgary Flames

The Flames recalled defenceman Yan Kuznetsov from the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-4 defenceman has two goals in 10 games with the Wranglers this season.

Montreal Canadiens

Samuel Montembeault will be in net on Tuesday when the Canadiens take on the Philadelphia Flyers.

Montembeault, 29, has won three of his last five games and has a 3-3-0 record this season with a 3.66 goals-against average and .839 save percentage.

Buffalo Sabres

Forward Jason Zucker will miss Tuesday’s game against the Utah Mammoth due to an illness, confirmed head coach Lindy Ruff.

Zucker, 33, missed practice on Monday with the illness and was put on injured reserve on Tuesday.

The 5-foot-11 winger is in his second season with the Sabres and has four goals and seven points in 12 games.

Buffalo recalled forward Noah Ostlund from the AHL’s Rochester Americans in a corresponding move.

Ostlund, 21, was drafted 16th overall by the Sabres in 2022 and has two goals and seven points in six games in the AHL this season.

The 5-foot-11 centre previously appeared in four games this season without recording a point.

Forward Jiri Kulich is also doubtful for Tuesday’s game due to a non-injury health issue.

Kulich, 21, is dealing with an issue related to fluid in his ears that also limited him to one shift in the third period during the team’s 4-3 shootout loss to the Washington Capitals on Saturday.

The 6-foot-1 centre has three goals and five points in 12 games this season.

Additionally, forward Tyson Kozak participated in Tuesday’s optional skate, but won’t return to the lineup against the Mammoth.

Kozak, 22, missed the team’s last four games with a lower-body injury and Ruff indicated he could return to the lineup on Thursday against the St. Louis Blues.

The 5-foot-11 centre has two goals and seven games this season.

Carolina Hurricanes

Pyotr Kochetkov was the first goaltender off the ice during the Hurricanes’ morning skate, indicating he could be making his first start of the season against the New York Rangers on Tuesday.

Kochetkov, 26, has yet to play this season while dealing with a lower-body injury sustained right before the start of the regular season.

The 6-foot-3 netminder had a 27-16-3 record last season with a 2.60 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage.

Pyotr Kochetkov was the first goalie off the ice for the #Canes following morning skate at Madison Square Garden.

It looks like he’s in line for his season debut tonight against the Rangers.

Dallas Stars

Casey DeSmith will get the start in net on Tuesday as the Stars take on the Edmonton Oilers, according to Stars radio analyst Bruce Levine.

DeSmith takes the crease as regular starting netminder Jake Oettinger is away from the team after his wife gave birth to their first child on Monday.

The 6-foot netminder has a 1-1-1 record this season with a 3.28 goals-against average and an .873 save percentage.

Minnesota Wild

Filip Gustavsson is expected to be in between the pipes when the Wild take on the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, according to Michael Russo of The Athletic.

Gustavsson has one win in his last five games and has a 3-6-1 record with a 3.23 goals-against average and .895 save percentage.

Nashville Predators

The Predators recalled forward Zach L’Heureux from the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals on Tuesday.

L’Heureux, 22, appeared in 62 games with the Predators last season, recording five goals and 15 points.

The 5-foot-11 winger has two goals and six points in seven games in the AHL this season.

New York Rangers

Defenceman Urho Vaakanainen will not be in the lineup Tuesday when the Rangers take on the Carolina Hurricanes due to a lower-body injury, confirmed head coach Mike Sullivan.

Vaakanainen is out tonight, Sullivan says. Robertson is in. And Igor starts in goal v. CAR.

The 26-year-old defenceman last appeared during the team’s 3-2 overtime win over the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday where he skated 12:34.

Vaakanainen has an assist in 10 games this season while averaging 14:53 of ice time.

Defenceman Matthew Robertson will take Vaakanainen’s place in the lineup.

Additionally, Igor Shesterkin is expected to start against the Hurricanes.

Shesterkin, 29, has two wins in his last five games and has a 4-4-2 record with a 2.28 goals-against average and .913 save percentage this season.

Philadelphia Flyers

Dan Vladar will be in net on Tuesday when the Flyers take on the Montreal Canadiens, confirmed head coach Rick Tocchet.

Vladar, 28, has three wins in his last five games and has a 4-3-0 record this season with a 2.11 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.
