Can the Bruins stay competitive in 2025/26?

The Boston Bruins were highly disappointing a season ago, but this year they’ve shaken up their lineup, and with good health, they’re off to a solid start despite being 1-6-0 away from home thus far in 2025/26. Offensively, the Bruins have been more than capable with 3.21 goals scored per game this season, but with the team ranking 27th in the league in goals allowed with a 3.43 GAA, showing they’ve got a long way to go before becoming truly competitive.

Unsurprisingly, it’s superstar forward David Pastrnak leading the way for Boston this year with 17 points in 14 games, and with three other players having 10 or more points, it’s clear that the top end of this roster is going to lead any success they’ll have this year. Last time out for the Bruins was a tight win over the Carolina Hurricanes, with 28/29 from Jeremy Swayman leading the way as Charlie McAvoy assisted on both goals, leading this team to a fantastic 2-1 victory at home.

Expected starting goaltender: Jeremy Swayman (3.14 GAA and an .896 save percentage in eight games).

Terms & Conditions Can the Islanders continue their fun start?

The New York Islanders have struggled for excitement in recent years, but in 2025/26, they’ve changed their culture entirely, and with a 4-2-0 record at home already this year, they’re proving that they are a team capable of being competitive all year long. In net, the Islanders find themselves 26th in the league with a 3.42 GAA this season, but with 3.33 goals scored per game, they’re finally proving that they can put together a very fun offensive group as they look towards the future.

While Bo Horvat is the leader in New York with 13 points in 12 games played, it’s rookie Matthew Schaefer with 10 in 12 games that has the entire NHL world talking, with the team finding themselves a superstar to lead their organization forward. Last time out for the Islanders was a win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, with two goals to Schaefer leading the way as David Rittich made 20 saves, leading them to a tight, dramatic 3-2 victory.

Expected starting goaltender: Ilya Sorokin (3.40 GAA and an .877 save percentage in eight games).

Boston Bruins vs. New York Islanders picksMoneyline pick for Bruins vs. Islanders

On paper, the Boston Bruins may have the better team, but this season they’ve struggled away from home with a 1-6-0 record, and with the Islanders flying behind their young core, they are understandably the favorite in this one.

Dating back to March of 2024, the Islanders have a 3-2 record against these Bruins, and with the team winning their last four games at home, expect that hot streak to continue in this matchup with a big win.

Over/under pick for Bruins vs. Islanders

While two big-name goaltenders is going against each other here, the over is 7-2-1 in the last 10 head-to-head encounters between these teams, with the offense being the strength of both thus far in 2025/26.

For the Bruins, the over sits at 6-4 in their last 10 overall games, with 20 goals allowed in their last four road games, and for the Islanders, the over comes in at 7-3 in their past 10, with 18 goals scored during their four-game winning streak at home.

Keep it simple, take the over.
