Chicago Blackhawks Recap, News & Tidbits

Chicago Hockey Now: While Oliver Moore was the first player the Blackhawks recalled from the AHL this season, he was arguably the second-best forward for the Rockford IceHogs before his promotion. Rockford’s leading point getter, Nick Lardis, was just named the AHL Rookie of the Month, as he tallied 12 points (4G, 8A) in his first eight games as a professional. Lardis has made the leap to pro hockey look easy.

More CHN: Just after Moore was called up to the NHL on Monday, the Blackhawks assigned 23-year-old forward Landon Slaggert to the AHL. Slaggert, a former third-round selection, won’t have an easy road ahead of him to regain a consistent spot in the NHL lineup.

More CHN: ICYMI, the Blackhawks’ losing streak reached three games on Monday night in Seattle, as they were defeated 3-1 by the Kraken. Chicago has also now dropped four of its last five games.

Heading out to the WHL, 2025 third-round pick Nathan Behm continues to be one of the top point producers in the entire league. Behm scored another two goals in the Blazers’ dominant 8-2 win on Tuesday night, which now gives him 27 points (12G, 15A) through 17 games on the season. Behm is currently second in the WHL in points, only trailing his Kamloops teammate, JP Hurlbert, in that category.

Here’s Nathan Behm’s 2nd goal of the night & 12th of the season🔥

Behm is now 2nd in the WHL with 27 points through 17 games! His Blazers’ teammate, JP Hurlbert, is 1st with 34 points.#Blackhawkspic.twitter.com/iE11sLAgtO

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

NHL.com: Cutter Gauthier had a strong rookie season with the Anaheim Ducks, as he tallied 20 goals in 82 games in the 2024-25 campaign. But the former fifth overall pick is already on pace to shatter that total this year, as a hat trick last night against the Florida Panthers now gives him ten goals through his opening 12 games. Gauthier is tied for the NHL lead in goals.

Sportsnet: Brendan Shanahan has a new job in the NHL’s hockey operations department, but it sounds like that’s only going to be temporary. Nick Kypreos broke down potential landing spots around the league for the Hockey Hall of Famer.

The Athletic: The Minnesota Wild knocked off the Nashville Predators in overtime… without ever actually putting the puck in the net. Marcus Johansson’s shot hit the side of the net as it was knocked off its moorings, yet he was awarded the game-winning goal. What an odd way to end a hockey game.

NHL.com/Hurricanes: After failing to find the back of the net in his first 11 games with Carolina, Nikolaj Ehlers finally scored his first goal as a member of the Hurricanes in a 3-0 win over the New York Rangers on Tuesday.

Forever Blueshirts: Speaking of the Rangers, their former first-round pick, Vitali Kravtsov, had his contract terminated by the Vancouver Canucks and is heading back to Russia. Again.

Montreal Hockey Now: Nick Suzuki extended his point streak to a dozen games, and Kirby Dach scored twice, but it wasn’t enough for the Montreal Canadiens to take down the Philadelphia Flyers.

Philly Hockey Now: From the Philadelphia Flyers‘ perspective, here’s the analysis from a gritty 5-4 victory over the Habs.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: With Tristan Jarry landing on injured reserve, the Pittsburgh Penguins called up top goalie prospect Sergei Murashov from the AHL. Murashov, still only 21, received yet another honor before being promoted to Pittsburgh.
