NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A 24-year-old man is behind bars after police say he fired an AR-15 across several locations in South Nashville before leading officers on a chase that ended near Percy Priest Dam.
Marcos Palacios-Amaya is charged with felony reckless endangerment, gun theft, unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon, and felony evading arrest.
According to Metro Police, between 8:30 and 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, Palacios-Amaya drove a Nissan through multiple areas, including Calais Circle, the parking lot of Plaza Mariachi on Nolensville Pike, a nearby strip center, and a mobile home park on Waikiki Boulevard, firing an AR-15 as he drove. Officers say he even entered Plaza Mariachi carrying the AR-15.
Around 10:10 a.m., officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle near Antioch Pike and Harding Place. When they tried to pull him over, police say he refused to stop, leading to a pursuit toward the Percy Priest Lake area.
Officers deployed spike strips near Bell Road and Stewarts Ferry Pike, damaging the car’s tires. Palacios-Amaya continued driving across the dam before coming to a stop near Dodson Chapel Road, where he finally surrendered.

Inside the vehicle, police found an AR-15 that was reported stolen in an August vehicle theft on Hickory Woods Drive.
Investigators say Palacios-Amaya admitted to firing shots “to scare people” and also claimed to have fired rounds in the LaVergne area earlier in the day.
Federal authorities are reviewing the case for possible additional charges.
According to court records, Palacios-Amaya has previous felony theft and auto burglary convictions out of Williamson and Rutherford counties. He was on probation in Rutherford County at the time of his arrest.
