The National Hockey League is investigating Ottawa Senators forward Arthur Kaliyev after new information regarding alleged gambling issues surfaced earlier this week.

League sources confirmed to Postmedia on Thursday that the NHL’s head office is taking another look at gambling allegations against Kaliyev after a New York Post report on Monday.

The source also said the league has yet to find any wrongdoing, but will continue to look at the case.

Lauren Mochen, Kaliyev’s model ex-girlfriend, told the Post that the Senators forward owes her and others around the NHL thousands of dollars. She also told the newspaper that she filed a report with the police in her hometown in Michigan and is considering pressing charges against Kaliyev.

Mochen accused Kaliyev of owing her more than $50,000 U.S.

No charges have been laid, and none of these allegations have been proven in court. A Senators spokesperson said Monday that the club was deferring “all comment to the league.” The NHL wanted to study some other elements of the case after the Post story.

Mochen first raised these claims with several posts on TikTok in September, but told her version of the story to the Post in what appeared to be a series of interviews. She said she also had emails and text messages, which she claimed backed up her story.

Steve Staios, the Senators’ general manager and president of hockey operations, was asked about the accusations by Mochen after the initial TikTok videos appeared on the first day of the club’s camp on Sept. 17.

“We’re aware of it, and it’s being monitored, but there’s nothing to it from what we’ve been told,” Staios said. “I don’t really have more to say on it other than that.”

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on Thursday that the investigation had been reopened by the league.
