Boston Bruins head coach Marco Sturm has a ton of praise for defenseman Andrew Peeke and the way he plays the game.
The Bruins extended their win streak to five on Thursday with a 3-2 overtime win over the Ottawa Senators at home. It was a great team win for Boston, and after the win, Sturm praised Peeke for his play.
“That is why he is big for our team, because he does the dirty work,” Sturm said postgame on Thursday.
Peeke finished the game with two assists and even left the game for a bit after blocking a shot. He finished the game with two blocked shots and a hit, as he played physically to limit the Senators’ offense.
Following the win, Peeke received the “Grinder Award” puck in the locker room from his teammates, as Sturm wasn’t the only person to notice his play.

“Little whirlwind of a game. But feel good, happy to get the win,” Peeke said. “Good feeling in the room right now.”
Sturm believes the way Boston – and Peeke – played on Thursday should be the way they play all season long.
“The game without the puck, that should be our bread and butter moving forward for the whole season,” said Sturm.

Boston will return to the ice on Saturday, looking to extend their win streak to six games when the Bruins go on the road to play the Toronto Maple Leafs.
