After a few practices hinting at it, young Ivan Demidov has now officially made a change to his equipment.

For his safety and to set a good example for young fans, Demidov has decided that from now on, he will wear a neck guard even during games.

It’s an excellent decision, and we love to see it!

He’s following in the footsteps of Mike Matheson in Montreal!

Significant Equipment Change Confirmed for Ivan Demidov

It may seem trivial, but it’s really not!

It sends a great message to young hockey players, and it could genuinely encourage more of them to wear neck protection on rinks across Quebec!

“Ivan Demidov is wearing a neck guard this morning at Canadiens practice.

You can never be too careful.”

Marc Olivier Cook

From now on, you’ll notice Demidov wearing a neck guard during games, adding an extra layer of protection.

Demidov, 19 years old, is a 6-foot-1, 192-pound forward who was the Montreal Canadiens’ 5th overall pick in 2024 (first-round selection).

He’s put up a solid 12 points in 14 games this season, including three goals, giving him a total of 14 points in 16 career NHL games.

Yes, he’s a very special player with a good head on his shoulders, and we’re very lucky to have a young man like him for both the present and the future of the Montreal Canadiens.
