Pierre-Luc Dubois has revived his career in Washington, but now the Capitals veteran has been delivered a brutal blow as he is now set to miss months of action.
The Washington Capitals were the story of the NHL a season ago, with the team taking a group that no one expected much of and made them into a genuine contender in the Eastern Conference.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of that team was veteran forward Pierre-Luc Dubois, whom they acquired in a deal with the Los Angeles Kings after the forward had arguably the worst season of his career, with many believing he didn’t have a future in the NHL as a result of his struggles.
In Washington, Dubois found his groove quickly, ending last season with 20 goals and 66 points in 82 games played, the highest total of his career after having just 40 the year prior.
Pierre-Luc Dubois Dealt Major Blow
While he was off to a slower start in 2025/26, tallying no points in six games played, Dubois has now been dealt a crushing blow, as it has been announced he’ll miss the next 3-4 months of action after undergoing surgery on Friday to address injuries to his abdominal and adductor muscles. That’s a big time loss for this Capitals team, but given the solid depth they’ve built up front around the star trio of Alex Ovechkin, Dylan Strome and Tom Wilson, the hope is that if Dubois can return during the regular season and get back to 100%, this will be a team that can once again make some noise in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
