WILLMAR —WILLMAR — The Willmar WarHawks rallied to earn perhaps their best victory of the young season.
Willmar came back from a 3-0 deficit to beat the St. Louis Junior Blues 4-3 before 650 fans Saturday night at the Willmar Civic Center Arena.
The WarHawks (4-9-0-0) gave up goals to Rece Sanderson, Jack Plager and August Feldker in the first period to allow St. Louis (13-2-1-0) to garner a 3-0 lead in the NA3HL game.
But, Maddux Domagala and Carson Wendorff scored in the second period to cut the deficit.
Elliot Domagala, Maddux’s brother, tied it up at 17:13 of the third period for Willmar. Then, Wendorff netted his second goal of the game, this time on the power play with 16:47 to play.
Wendorff is a defenseman from Litchfield.
Maddux Domagala is an 18-year-old forward with two goals and an assist in 13 games. Elliot Domagala is a 19-year-old forward with two goals and three assists in 13 games. The Domagalas are from Luverne.
The WarHawks’ next game is 7:10 p.m. Friday against the Mason City Toros at the Willmar Civic Center Arena.
