Ahead of their Monday night home tilt with the New York Islanders, it was a relatively uneventful Sunday for the New Jersey Devils. Around the NHL, though? A completely different story. NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
Chicago Hockey Now: The Chicago Blackhawks continued their successful start to 24-25, taking down the Detroit Red Wings 5-1 yesterday afternoon at Little Caesar’s Arena. Connor Bedard is finally having that breakout season, and the 2023 1st overall pick retook the league lead in points yesterday. The Devils will get their first look at Bedard and the Hawks on Wednesday night at the United Center.
San Jose Hockey Now: While Connor Bedard is atop the league in points for the moment, his fellow first overall pick from a year later in Macklin Celebrini is hot on his trail, as the San Jose Sharks have finally caught fire, now 7-2-1 after defeating the defending champs on home ice. Between Celebrini and Bedard, it seems that the next generation of NHL superstars have arrived on the scene. However, the Sharks are not the only California team flourishing at the moment.
NHL.com: Who is the hottest team in the NHL at the moment? That would be the Joel Quenneville-lead Anaheim Ducks, who have now won seven straight games after impressively thrashing the Winnipeg Jets last night. The Devils experienced the might of the Quack Attack firsthand last weekend, but nobody might be feeling more pain from Anaheim’s success than the New York Rangers, as former Blueshirts Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba seem to have been THE missing pieces to get the Ducks back to form.
