Playing alongside Connor McDavid has its perks, and Jack Roslovic will continue to reap the rewards.

While slow starts have been part and parcel for the Edmonton Oilers the past two seasons, this year’s ho-hum run is extending a little longer than a club with championship aspirations would like.

The Oil are sizable favorites over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Rogers Place on Monday, November 10, and my Oilers vs. Blue Jackets predictions call for Edmonton winger Jack Roslovic to have his say in a win tonight.

Here are my NHL picks for this showdown.

Blue Jackets vs Oilers prediction

Blue Jackets vs Oilers Best bet: Jack Roslovic Over 0.5 points (-135)

Slotting in on the No. 1 line and top power-play unit is a cushy gig with the Edmonton Oilers, and Jack Roslovic has cashed in to the tune of seven points — three goals — across his past seven games.

He’s primarily played with superstars Connor McDavid and/or Leon Draisaitl this season, and the trio has been a force with 11.31 goals per 60 minutes while also driving 5-on-5 possession with an elite 71.4 Corsi For percentage in a small sample.

Roslovic has done his share with a solid 55.2 CF%, and he’s been on the ice for 3.7 goals per 60 minutes at 5-on-5 during the stretch. The first-year Oiler has also added three power-play points.

Special teams could be huge in tonight’s game, too. The Columbus Blue Jackets rank 27th in penalty-kill percentage, and Edmonton is second in power-play percentage, after all.

Blue Jackets vs Oilers same-game parlay

The Oilers were steamrolled 9-1 at home on Saturday by the Colorado Avalanche, and Edmonton, sporting a 6-6-4 record, isn’t representative of the talent jumping the boards.

I’m expecting a statement showing from the Oil tonight, and the puck luck is going to flip soon, considering they rank last in the league in PDO.

As noted, the Blue Jackets’ penalty kill has been leaky to start the season, and McDavid is up to 11 power-play points through 16 games this season. Of course, he also entered this season with a league-high 10.99 points per 60 minutes on the PP over the prior three years.
