Jiri Kulich has an incredibly bright future in Buffalo, but now, it’s been revealed he’ll miss months of action due to a very scary blood clot issue.

In the 2022 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres used a first-round pick on the intriguing Jiri Kulich, a centre out of the Czech Republic who has the size and the skill to be a potential star in the NHL.

He quickly came to North America and joined the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League, and with 46 points in 62 games in his first full season there, the sky was the limit for the now 21-year old.

Jiri Kulich to Miss Months With A Blood Clotting Issue

Unfortunately, just as he began his second full season in the NHL with the Sabres, Kulich will now miss months of action after the recent heartbreaking announcement that he is dealing with blood clots.

When asked for comment, Head Coach Lindy Ruff wouldn’t go into anything specific, but did note that it is pretty serious, with the team set to miss the talented centre for ‘a significant amount of time’.

This season, the 21-year old posted 3 goals and 5 points through 12 games as he continues to adjust to the game at the top level, and while he’s still got a bright future ahead in the NHL, it’s clear that he and the team are taking this seriously, and will take all the time necessary to get him back to 100% health.

Only time will tell how long that takes, but this is no doubt a heartbreaking development for a very promising young forward, and with the health issues piling up in Buffalo, their hopes of ending their Stanley Cup Playoffs drought may be going up in smoke.
