The Boston Bruins are continuing to defy expectations early in the 2025-26 season under the lead of new head coach Marco Sturm. With David Pastrnak leading the way thanks to a pair of goals, the Bruins earned their seventh-straight win on Tuesday night with a 5-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Pastrnak scoring goals isn’t exactly an uncommon occurrence, but these goals had a bit of extra meaning for him, as they were the 400th and 401st goals of his career with Boston. That has put him in some exclusive company when it comes to the history of the storied franchise.
400 goals is quite a hefty tally, and that isn’t lost on Sturm. After the game, he revealed the hilarious revelation that he and assistant coach Chris Kelly had that helped emphasize just how impressive Pastrnak’s latest feat is.
“It’s unbelievable, 400 goals,” Sturm said after the game. “I told Kells, that’s more than I and you had together. He’s like, ‘And practice!’ I said, ‘Yes, including practice.’”
Even without the type of supporting cast he’s been used to playing alongside to begin his career, Pastrnak has remained one of the most productive players in the league. Through 18 games, Pastrnak already has 10 goals and 12 assists for the B’s.

Boston has been getting contributions up and down the lineup during its recent winning streak, though, and the team will hope to carry the positive momentum forward. The Bruins will look to make it eight straight wins when they return to action against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night.
