Rasmus Andersson is a hot name on the trade market this season, and now, it appears as though the Maple Leafs are targeting the Flames star.

The Toronto Maple Leafs made some big changes over the past 12 months, and after their 8-8-1 start to the 2025/26 campaign, it appears as though those changes could result in a very disappointing season.

Already, the rumours have begun surrounding Toronto, with the team recently linked too St. Louis Blues star Jordan Kyrou, with GM Brad Treliving clearly looking to shake things up once more.

Maple Leafs once again targeting Rasmus Andersson

Now, new reports from Jay Rosehill have revealed that the team are once again heavily pursuing Calgary Flames star blue liner Rasmus Andersson, a player that Treliving drafted and has massive interest in.This should come as no surprise to fans of either team, as the Maple Leafs chased Andersson at the deadline a year ago before pivoting to Brandon Carlo, and once again, despite the fact that he’s a free agent at the end of the 2025/26 season, Toronto are interested.

Unfortunately, as fans on social media pointed out, any assets that Toronto do have to acquire Andersson are ones they don’t want to give up, and beyond that, they simply don’t have the pieces to acquire him.

Ultimately, given the rocky relationship between Treliving and the Flames, it’s highly unlikely a deal gets done, and even if the two parties put that aside, there’s just no assets for Toronto unless a third team gets involved, we’ll have to wait and see if anything comes to fruition here.
