Carl Hagelin stopped into Stockholm’s Avicii Arena this morning to take in Penguins practice and catch up with his former teammates — including former linemate Nick Bonino..
Hagelin, who last played for the Capitals in 2021-22 and formally retired in 2023 due to an eye injury, is in his second season working for the Wild as a European scout.
Hagelin will attend the games but won’t be the one dropping the ceremonial first puck. Just guessing, but Patric Hornqvist would be too fitting, given that he played for both teams. Hornqvist has spent the last three years as a consultant for the Panthers, but he remains based in Sweden for the most part.
