Which teams are taking part in the 2025 NHL Global Series Sweden and who are the players in form?

The Nashville Predators and Pittsburgh Penguins are each giving up a home game to play in this year’s Global Series.

The Penguins have started the season well and find themselves in a playoff spot after 17 games of the season, sitting third in the Metropolitan Division with a 9-5-3 record (21 points).

Meanwhile, the Predators are eighth in the Western Conference Wild Card race with a 5-8-4 record (14 points) from their 17 games.

The Penguins have been led in points by their veteran centre Evgeni Malkin, who has 21 points (3 goals, 18 assists) in 17 games. Captain Sidney Crosby is their top scorer with 11 goals (11-9—20).

Nashville, meanwhile, count Swedish native Filip Forsberg as their top scorer and points getter (7-6—13 from 17 games).

Forsberg, teammate Adam Wilsby, and the Penguins’ Erik Karlsson, Filip Hallander, and Rickard Rakell are the Swedes on the two teams. But Rakell will miss the trip as he is on injured reserve, while Hallender will travel but not play as he is also nursing an injury.

Stockholm is the city outside the U.S. and Canada which has hosted the most regular-season NHL games, with this year’s series marking the 17th and 18th games to be played in the city.
