COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The Columbus Blue Jackets celebrated “Hockey Fights Cancer” at Nationwide Arena.

The CBJ honor their current class of Pediatric Cancer Heroes, including 10-year-old Bryan Gochenouer Jr.

“I have a natural espresso,” Bryan said about his positive outlook. “It keeps me in a good mood.”

Bryan was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called “poorly differentiated chordoma” at the age of three. His father, Bryan Senior, is amazed at his son’s positive outlook.

“He has always been this way since he was born,” Bryan Senior said.

“You look at him and wouldn’t know he’s going through it. He won’t give up.”

The Blue Jackets recently hosted Bryan Jr. and the rest of the Pediatric Cancer Heroes to a behind-the-scenes party at Nationwide Arena.

The children got to meet Blue Jacket players and play games with some of their heroes on the ice.
