SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Hockey Club had its winning streak ended by the Los Angeles Kings at Delta Center on Thursday.

Utah outshot the Kings, but they didn’t outscore them. Despite outshooting LA by more than 10, the Kings made the most of their chances and left Salt Lake with a 4-2 victory. Lawson Crouse and Jack McBain were the goal-scorers for the Hockey Club.

With the loss, Utah sits 11 points back from the Wild Card with only 12 possible points remaining on the schedule. Although improbable, a postseason appearance is still possible.

The Utah Hockey Club will close out its homestand against Winnipeg, Seattle, and Nashville before ending the season with three straight on the road.

First Period

DYLAN GUENTHER SCORES AND UTAH LEADS 1-0!!!!!!

Seems like he can see just fine sporting the fishbowl.

What a shot.

Play was offside… no goal for Gunner. Boys are gonna work to get that one back. pic.twitter.com/YKMdEPEiPe

After the initial goal was overturned, Darcy Kuemper has been stellar in net.

Back-to-back outstretched right pad saves to stuff Utah near the goal line and keep the puck out.

Game remains tied with 3:20 left in the first but Utah is playing really well as a team.

Every line is going right at the net, generating traffic, and maintaining O-zone possessions.

They’re also outhitting the Kings 9-4 courtesy of the third line.

Power play for Utah.

Like I said, good first period for Utah despite a scoreless game.

They outshot the Kings 16-3 while also outhitting them 12-6.

Ok…so a goal was called after Cooley supposedly pushed Kempe into Vejmelka and Vejmelka fell into the net???

From my point of view though, Vejmelka had the puck in his glove and that never crossed the line.

This is wild.

1-0 Kings.

Full replay of LA’s bizarre goal. https://t.co/0rUdBeXRjS

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) April 4, 2025

I’ve now seen the replay. The puck ended up underneath Vejmelka and unfortunately for Utah that’s the right call as Cooley pushed Kempe into Vejmelka.

Never seen that before. But it’s a good goal. https://t.co/6Rk8zkWDeu

LAWSON CROUSE SCORES AND UTAH TIES THE GAME 1-1!!!!!

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) April 4, 2025

That is a PRETTY shot.

The amount of space he had to work with over Kuemper’s shoulder was incredibly small, but he was able to thread the needle.

Doan deserves a lot of credit here for winning that battle in the corner and feeding Crouse. https://t.co/YMzjQgt1WQ

Huge pad save by Vejmelka on a King’s breakaway to keep the game tied 1-1.

Fiala tried to get him to bite with a quick fake, but Veggie remained composed and stuffed his attempt on the other side.

Well deserved “Veggie” chants throughout Delta Center.

19 straight folks.

Great save from Veggie, somehow a better call from McConnell. Wasatch Wall is an awesome nickname.#UtahHC
