Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner is officially back on injured reserve with an upper-body injury that forced an early exit from a 2-1 shootout win Nov. 11 at the Seattle Kraken.
Jenner, whose status was described by coach Dean Evason as “not short-term,” will miss his second game of the season when the Blue Jackets (9-7-1) host the New York Rangers (9-7-2) on Nov. 15 at Nationwide Arena. This is the fifth straight season that Jenner has required an IR stint, including a four-month recovery last season after shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum.
Jenner has also missed long stretches over the past five years with a fractured jaw and multiple back injuries. In 15 games this season, he’s played left wing on the second and third lines while contributing three goals, seven assists and 10 points with a -7 rating.
